9 Free Summer Activities for Kids

The school year is coming to an end which means it’s time to start thinking about activities you can do with the kids during the long summer break. Don’t think you have to break the bank to keep the kids entertained, below is a list I compiled of some great Free activities you can provide for the kids.

1) Register for Kids Skate Free!

First find a skating center near you by using this link, then click on it and proceed to the next page to register. After you register and validate your e-mail address you’ll receive a coupon that will let your kids skate for free at that location.

2) Free Kids Workshops Offered by Home Depot

The Home Depot offers free workshops for do-it-yourselfers of all ages and experience levels.

  • Review the schedule of upcoming workshops and choose a specific workshop to attend.
  • You’ll see a variety of workshops scheduled – please be sure to select the correct workshop you’d like to participate in.

3) Bass Pro Shop Offers Free Activities for Kids

Their summer program offers free craft projects, campfire smores, a shooting gallery, a casting pond, merit badge workshops and more!

4) Apple Camp

Apple provides a free workshop for kids where they can become filmmakers.  Children between the ages of 8 – 12 will learn how to shoot their own footage, create an original song in GarageBand and put it all together in iMovie on a Mac.

5) Free Entrance Days to National Parks

The National Park Service turns 100 years old in 2016 and is celebrating by offering free admission on 16 different days.

6) Kids Bowl Free

Select bowling centers and schools around the country are participating in the first ever Kids Bowl Free program. This program is designed by bowling centers to give back to the community and provide a safe, secure, and fun way for kids to spend time this summer. Registered kids receive 2 free games of bowling every day all summer long!

7) Free Museum Entrance for Bank of America Customers

To qualify for the Museums on Us program, you must be a Bank of America or Merrill Lynch card customer. Simply present your Bank of America or Merrill Lynch credit or debit card along with a photo ID to gain free general admission to any participating institution.

8) Summer Book Club and Other Free Activities with Pottery Barn Kids

Each week this summer Pottery Barn Kids will read aloud some of their favorite books. After attending 5 story times you can ask a store associate for a Book Club Passport to receive $10 off one item.

9) Lowe’s Build and Grow Program

Register for a clinic for your child to build a wooden project and get a free apron, goggles, and patch.
